Wraparound Care at Flakefleet
At Flakefleet Primary School, we understand that family life doesn’t always fit neatly around the school day.
Our breakfast and afterschool provision gives families access to safe, welcoming and affordable childcare, while giving children a positive start and end to their school day.
Our provision is designed to make mornings and afternoons easier for families, while ensuring that children are cared for by familiar adults in a friendly school environment.
Breakfast Club
Free Government Breakfast Club
We are delighted to offer the Government’s Free Breakfast Club to our pupils.
The free breakfast club runs from 8:15 am – 8:45 am
The club is available to all eligible primary-aged pupils in line with the Government’s free breakfast club programme.
Children can enjoy breakfast in a relaxed environment before getting ready for the school day. The club provides an opportunity for children to socialise with friends, take part in calm activities and start their morning feeling settled and ready to learn.
The Government’s programme is designed to help children have a positive start to the school day while supporting families with the cost and logistics of before-school childcare.
There is no charge for the Government Free Breakfast Club.
Need an Earlier Start?
Early Breakfast Club – 7:30 am to 8:15 am
We also recognise that some families need childcare to begin earlier than the free breakfast club.
Our Early Breakfast Club runs from:
- 7:30 am – 8:15 am
- Cost: £2.50 per session
This is a paid provision and provides childcare before children move into the free Government Breakfast Club at 8:15 am.
Children attending the Early Breakfast Club will be cared for by our staff in school and will then continue into the free breakfast provision from 8:15 am.
This means families who need an earlier start can access wraparound care from 7:30 am, while families who only require the Government Breakfast Club can access it free of charge from 8:15 am.
A Calm Start to the Day
We want mornings at Flakefleet to be positive and relaxed.
Our breakfast provision gives children time to:
- Enjoy a nutritious breakfast
- Chat and socialise with friends
- Take part in quiet activities
- Spend time with familiar adults
- Settle into the school environment
- Prepare themselves for the day ahead
Our aim is for every child to arrive at the start of the school day feeling happy, settled and ready to learn.
Afterschool Club
Fun, Safe and Welcoming
Our Afterschool Club provides a safe and enjoyable environment for children once the school day has finished.
It’s run by our own staff, right here on site. No collecting from somewhere else. No unfamiliar faces.
Club Leaders: Suzanne Moore and Whitney Thoburn
Club Assistant: Jade Adams
Activities may include:
- Arts and crafts
- Games and construction
- Reading and quiet activities
- Outdoor play, where appropriate
- Creative activities
- Time to chat and socialise with friends
We want Afterschool Club to feel like a natural extension of the Flakefleet family — a place where children can unwind after a busy day while having fun with their friends.

We feed them properly. Hot dogs, pizza, sandwiches, wraps, salad, fresh fruit, sausage rolls, pasta and garlic bread. Hot, filling and a bit of choice each night.
