Thank you for considering Flakefleet Primary School for your child. We are incredibly proud of our school, our children and our wider community, and we hope this page gives you everything you need to know about joining us.
We understand that choosing a school is a big decision. We want the admissions process to be as simple and straightforward as possible, and we are always happy to answer any questions you may have.
Starting in Reception
Children normally start Reception at the beginning of the academic year in which they turn five.
As a maintained school, Lancashire County Council (LCC) is responsible for administering our admissions. This means that applications for Reception places must be made directly through Lancashire County Council.
Applications open in September before your child is due to start school, with the closing date normally being 15 January.
Families are notified of their school place in April. If you are not happy with the place offered, you have the right to appeal through Lancashire County Council.
Important to remember
It is the responsibility of parents and carers to make sure their application is submitted to Lancashire County Council before the closing date.
A maximum of 60 children can be admitted into our Reception year group.
Moving to Flakefleet During the School Year
If you are moving into the area or would like your child to join Flakefleet during the school year, you can make an in-year application.
Places are dependent on availability within the required year group.
We would love the opportunity to meet you and your child, show you around our school and answer any questions you may have. Please contact our school office to arrange a convenient time to visit before completing the in-year application with Lancashire County Council.
